Father, this is an open letter to remind you about your role: protecting your children, being their safe space, providing the ground for them to grow and bloom.
Not all fathers lack the ability to fulfill their role — that's true. But many, too many, far more than there should be, are forgetting their role and acting as if it doesn't matter much.
The problem isn't just abandoning your children or not caring much about them. The problem is when you create an environment that doesn't feel safe, loving, and understanding — one where a child can develop in peace.
The problem is when you, father, put your wants and needs first — not in the "put on your own oxygen mask first" sense, no. Your needs as in being selfish.
The ripple effect caused by fathers not doing their job properly, not fulfilling their role to the level a child requires, is catastrophic. It's an effect that damages the psyche, health, mind, and healthy growth of the child.
That's why today, on Father's Day, with all the love of a mother, I want to remind you, father, that you are important, and the way you treat your children will determine the health of their development.
It is teamwork, mother and father (it doesn't matter if you are separated or divorced) — if you don't do your part properly, it's like missing an arm or a leg. There is a missing piece that no one else can fill.
Father, remember your role: take care of your child, love, protect, and provide.
